my dirty shoe in heaven

Two days ago, I failed to get off the hill after nearly an hour of attempts, four blown launches in light to no winds, eventualy blowing down, sweating, nearly incapacitated in 110 degree heat dressed for the cold, long sleeved sweat shirt and spandex sleeves, drenched as if I had been swimming. Packing up on the hill was humiliating, discouraging.
Back the next day, yesterday, launch was easy, the early flight was not. Popped up to 500 over right off launch only to be back down below launch a moment later, spent a few minutes looking for lift at the E with no luck, left for the north face, only to sink below the ridge, followed a vulture at ridge level to Edward's launch, then around to the point above the road, as the entire E canyon went into shade from the cloud building over launch. Struggled over the point low with an Osprey, left after a few minutes without gaining, thinking of landing at edwards, nearly hit the hill in strong sink, continued back to the north face and began to find workable lift. After 20 minutes struggling, got up over the north face in extremely disorganized lift, seldom circling, carving figure 8's to stay in the rough strong cores, eventually getting to base around 8 grand asl.
